Thomas Hale, RPh, Ph.D, is a leading expert in perinatal pharmacology and the use of medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding. He is founder and executive director of the Infant Risk Center at Texas Tech University, where he is also a professor of pediatrics and assistant dean of research. The Infant Risk Center conducts research and provides evidence-based information to both healthcare professionals and the public on medication safety during pregnancy and lactation. Hale is the author of Hale’s Medications and Mothers’ Milk (Springer Publishing Company), a “gold standard” textbook that provides information on the impact of prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, herbs, and street drugs on lactation.
